Current status of my blog-building knowledge. Drupal, SEO, Drupal + SEO

Things to do till my blog gets going, which crossed my mind the last few days:

  • Get know Drupal stuff better
    • Taxonomy, multpile vocabularies, helper modules - there are many small things which I want to do
    • CCK. Simply have a need to add couple fields to my nodes
    • Panels
    • Views
    • Build own original theme. I will not stay with Garland for long. Already spotted some simple WordPress themes which design inspired me. Last time was doing Drupal theming the hardest part was to choose current Drupal theme to build on.
    • Blog still without image module :/  I think this task is one of priorities. Soon will decide which image module and which way of storing images suits best for me
    • Social bookmarking modules, buttons. Think big - act small. Why not to dream that post from my blog will be hit on Digg someday?
    • Lots of maintenance, security stuff which I still do not know. It seems also as a nice topic for one of the how-to on this site
    • Make usage of Blog API, other blogging related modules
    • Test-drive some helper modules which can make life easier
    • Menu modules. Want to make some more structure for content
    • Enable and make permitions for comments
    • Captcha
  • Search Engine Optimization
    • Inventory what backlinks I do have right now, check which ones have "nofollow",  meaning for traffic on site, an the one who don't. The same with PageRank.
    • Seek for friends with blog sites, ask them for backlinks to get my own blog going
    • Do theme, content HTML analysis. Structurize site. Proper usage of h1-h6, b, strong. For now I will leave it as is, but on the whole this is underrated SEO part...
    • Try to get into local respectable link directories
    • Get to DMOZ. It still has great weight
    • Get, bookmark, download and summarize some of new SEO resources, like news from SEOmoz.org (...already found some articles dates 1-2 years ago, which are outdated today)
    • Drop and forget those alredy outdated...
    • Get some non-online software to run on my own PC, like Adwanced Web Ranking
    • Do not forget about search engines when defining mission, slogan, site name
  • Drupal-related SEO
    • Search for smarter Pathauto patterns
    • Test all possible SEO related modules form drupal.org. Ok, skip those with duplicate functions and without real meaning
    • Try to integrate some tricks from my non-Drupal sites which I was working on

to be continued...

  • 3000 visitors day
